Social Programs - Makeni supports this initiative

APAE – Recently, Makeni backed a campaign established by the São Paulo branch of APAE (Association of Parents and Friends of the Mentally Challenged) for the social inclusion of the mentally challenged, by buying kits that included bracelets (written in Braille) and a Manual that explained the work carried out by the association. Makeni supported the initiative by purchasing the kits to give to its clients as a gift during a trade fair in São Paulo.

Clean Life Project – an initiative carried out by Makeni, in partnership with other regional companies, and the City Hall of Diadema (state of São Paulo), which in the past three years has been able to transform the Coca Shantytown. Currently, Makeni has a center that has a selective collection system. All of the company’s employees cooperate by bringing recyclable trash from home, in addition to that of the company. The objective of the program is to preserve the environment and assist families that use this resource as a means of livelihood.

Diadema Dance Troupe – Since 1995 the DiademaDance Troupe along with the Diadema City Hall, have promoted a Dance Training and Dissemination Program in the city of Diadema. This joint effort supports many artistic and social programs in Diadema and throughout Brazil. It is a program of artistic and social nature that teaches dance to the municipality’s lower-income communities, and also fosters social inclusion through dance itself. Makeni decided to support this initiative because it believes that culture and artistic activities are a great channel for children and teenagers to learn. A way to develop socially-aware citizens.
